NEW LIGHTING DESIGN FOR TIKKURILA CITY CENTER, VANTAA

in co-operation with artists Tarja Ervasti and Ilkka Volanen

The task was to find an architecture and art based solution for currently (not) existing city centre. By using lights a hierarchy of boundaries, vegetation, streets and surfaces was created. The most central pedestrian route is designed to light up poetically according to seasonal events. The walkway is given the role of the main “vessel” it deserves. The lighting systems of Tikkurila city centre will be realized according to this set principles.
